Action C.2 – Production of Industry Guides

>Proposed starting and end date of action: 01/10/14-30/11/14
Actual starting and expected end date of action: 01/10/14-30/11/14
Status: Completed

Description:

During this action three industry specific guides related to resource efficiency were produced:

  • "Quarry Slurry Best Available Technique for the use in the cement and clay brick/tile industry"
  • "Resource Efficiency Guide by the use of quarry slurry in the clay brick/tile industry"
  • "Resource Efficiency Guide by the use of quarry slurry in the cement industry"

Methods Employed:

The "Quarry Slurry Best Available Technique for the use in the cement and clay brick/tile industry" was comprised by data collected mainly during Action B.1 recording and presenting the technical aspects of changing a quarry's waste slurry management processes in order to achieve the best physical and chemical slurry characteristics to facilitate better usage as a raw material for the cement and the clay brick/tile industry.

The "Resource Efficiency Guide by the use of quarry slurry in the clay brick/tile industry" and the "Resource Efficiency Guide by the use of quarry slurry in the cement industry" was comprised mainly of data collected from Actions B.1, B.3 and C.1 and will present the necessary changes in the cement and brick production processes necessary to facilitate usage of waste slurry as a raw material. The guides are written in such a manner so that other relevant industries can repeat the demonstration activities and adopt resource efficiency.
